Short Handle Weedivator!

This is a patented (#5477667) new concept in hand weeders and cultivators. The threaded cross bar, welded across the tines 1 1/4" back from the 1/4" dia. tine tips, snags roots. By rocking the tool back and using the scuffle hoe as a fulcrum VERY tough and tenacious weed clumps can be uprooted. For weeding the tines comb through the soil, and the scuffle hoe clips weed roots under the surface and assists in loosening soil.

< The manufacturer calls this 3-in-1 hand tool the Weedivator, but I like to think of it as the "Supreme Soil Scraper"--I always reach for it when I want to prepare a new bed for planting. Its long, thick tines punch through my brick-hard clay soil with the slightest pressure on its 8 inch long handle. Those tines are aided and abetted by a connecting, horizontal bar, which gets beneath the surface and helps dredge up the rocks that always seem to be everywhere I want to grow. After I've scraped 8 inches deep, I flip the tool over and use the serrated U-blade on the back to sift through the loosened soil and break up the clumps. Now I have soil that I can work with.
The tines, the bar and the U-blade rout weeds with ease. But for weeding lengthy garden rows or wide perennial beds, I choose the Weedivator's long-handled sibling.
